Online learning requires regular access to a computer with Internet as well as basic competence in word processing, email, and Internet. You will need the following to operate our 2LIT® Platform:
This course is a continuation of the Introduction to Medical Interpretation I course. This course includes specialized medical vocabulary presented in Spanish and English. Medical terminology includes: pediatrics, women’s clinic, and substance abuse. Sight translation of typical forms used in most hospitals, such as history form for pediatric asthma patient, consent for catheter lab procedure, and adult health history form are discussed in this course. Colloquialisms and idiomatic expressions are also part of this course. Consecutive techniques leading to a maximum length of 60 terms per segment are introduced. Techniques for the simultaneous mode of interpreting leading to a maximum speed of 150 words per minute are also introduced. This course consists of 27 hours of instruction, three quizzes, one midterm, one final examination, and two over-the-phone assessments. It also includes access to our Online Interpreting Laboratory.
SCSI Media is partnering with colleges and universities nationwide, allowing these schools to offer their students our quality online training programs in Spanish language Interpreting.
Similar to a Court Interpreter, a Federal Interpreter also plays a vital role in the Federal courts system by interpreting for defendants, litigants and witnesses with limited English proficiency.
